Our Drain Cleaning & Rooter Services

Our licensed technicians handle the full range of residential and commercial drain cleaning and rooter work across Alameda County, CA. Here is what we take care of every day.

    Drain Cleaning

Grease, soap buildup, and debris collect inside drain lines over time and slow or block water flow. We clear kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and floor drains using professional cable machines and hydro jetting equipment. Most clogs are cleared in a single visit.

    Rooter Services

Rooter work targets tough blockages that sit deep inside drain or sewer pipes. We use rotating cable equipment to cut through tree roots growing into underground lines, break apart heavy grease buildup, and remove debris that standard plungers and household drain tools cannot reach. If you have recurring clogs, rooter service is usually what actually solves the problem.

    Hydro Jetting

Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to clean the full interior wall of a pipe, not just punch a hole through a clog. Water pressure is adjusted based on pipe material and condition to avoid damage. It removes grease, mineral scale, soap scum, and root fragments left behind after mechanical clearing. For Alameda County, CA properties with cast iron drain lines or restaurant-grade kitchen drains, hydro jetting is the most effective long-term solution.

    Shower Drain Cleaning

Hair, soap scum, and mineral residue build up inside shower drain lines and slow drainage over time. We clear shower drains using cable machines sized for the line, then test flow before we leave.

    Kitchen Drain Cleaning

Kitchen drains handle grease, food waste, and detergent daily. That combination coats the inside of drain lines and gradually restricts flow. We clear the blockage and, where grease buildup is the underlying cause, we recommend a hydro jetting pass to restore full pipe diameter.

    Toilet Drain Clearing

Toilets backed up by a foreign object, excess paper, or a blockage deep in the drain line require the right tool for the specific cause. We identify what is blocking the line before choosing a clearing method to avoid pushing the obstruction further down.

    Sewer Line Cleaning

A blocked main sewer line affects every drain in the building at once. We use camera inspection to locate the blockage, confirm what is causing it, roots, grease buildup, collapsed pipe, or debris accumulation, then clear it with rooter equipment or hydro jetting depending on what the camera shows.

    Septic Tank Pumping

Most residential septic systems in Alameda County, CA need pumping every three to five years, depending on household size and daily water use. When tanks go too long without service, solid waste overflows into the drain field and causes backups, slow drains, and outdoor wet spots. We pump tanks and inspect inlet and outlet pipes to confirm the system is working correctly.

    Septic Tank Cleaning

Septic cleaning goes beyond pumping to remove accumulated sludge from the tank walls and baffles. We clean the tank, inspect for cracks and damage, and check the distribution system to catch problems before they require a full drain field replacement.

    Emergency Drain Clearing

For overflowing drains, sewage backups, and complete blockages that cannot wait, we provide emergency drain clearing across Alameda County, CA. Call (510) 261-3339 any time. Same-day response is available to Berkeley, Oakland, San Leandro, Emeryville, Kensington, San Francisco, and surrounding cities.

I had leaking showerheads in two showers. Albion scheduled a visit quickly and and quickly replaced two different mixing valve cartridges. Another company sent a rep a couple of months earlier who flat out declared the problem a non-issue and charged me $75 and left without fixing anything.

Albion's team worked long and hard to clear plant roots out of the sewer. They dug up a section and installed an accessible cleanout so that future work will be easier. They even pulled out an old plumber's snake that had been stuck inside the sewer pipe for years. That was heroic!

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know when I need professional drain cleaning services in Alameda County, CA?

Watch for slow drainage in sinks or showers, gurgling sounds from drains, foul odors, and water backing up into tubs or sinks. When multiple drains in the building slow down at the same time, the problem is usually in the main sewer line rather than an individual fixture drain. These are all signs worth calling a plumber for rather than waiting to see if it gets worse on its own.

    What causes drain clogs?

Kitchen drains clog from grease, food waste, and dish soap residue that coats the pipe wall over time. Bathroom drains clog from hair, soap scum, and mineral deposits. Older Alameda County homes with cast iron drain lines develop rough interior surfaces over decades that collect debris faster than PVC. Tree roots are a major cause of main sewer line blockages in properties with large landscaping, particularly in Oakland, Berkeley, and Kensington where mature trees are common.

When should I call a drain cleaning company instead of fixing it myself?

A plunger works on shallow clogs close to the drain opening. If the clog returns within a few days, drains slowly even after clearing, or multiple fixtures are affected at once, call a professional. Persistent blockages are almost always deeper in the pipe than household tools can reach. Chemical drain cleaners can soften some clogs short-term but cause corrosion damage to older pipes and rarely solve the actual problem.

What is hydro jetting and when do I need it?

Hydro jetting uses pressurized water to clean the full interior wall of a pipe rather than just cutting through a clog. A standard drain snake punches a hole through the blockage and leaves buildup on the pipe walls. Hydro jetting washes it all out. It is the right choice for recurring clogs, restaurant drain lines with heavy grease buildup, and older Alameda County, CA properties where pipe walls have accumulated years of scale and debris.

    What are rooter plumbing services?

Rooter work uses rotating cable equipment to cut through blockages deep inside drain or sewer lines. The name comes from the original use of the tool, clearing tree roots from sewer pipes, but modern rooter machines handle heavy grease, debris accumulation, and severe clogs at any depth in the line. If a standard drain snake does not clear the problem, rooter service usually will.

How often should a septic tank be pumped?

Most residential septic systems need pumping every three to five years. The right interval depends on household size, daily water use, and how much solid waste the system handles. Alameda County homes on septic systems, particularly in unincorporated areas near Kensington, CA and the hills, often go too long between service calls. When a tank reaches capacity, the overflow damages the drain field, which costs far more to repair than routine pumping.

Does Albion Plumbing offer emergency drain cleaning service?

Yes. We provide emergency drain clearing to Berkeley, Oakland, San Leandro, Emeryville, Kensington, and surrounding Alameda County cities. Call (510) 261-3339 any time for same-day response. Sewage backups and complete main line blockages are treated as emergencies and dispatched ahead of routine calls.

How quickly should I deal with a slow drain?

Sooner than most people do. A slow drain usually means buildup is already restricting the pipe. Left alone, the restriction keeps growing until the drain backs up completely. Catching it early means a straightforward cable clearing. Waiting until it backs up fully often means camera inspection, rooter work, or hydro jetting to clear what has accumulated over months.
